Yesterday I was at the WHFSFestival in Columbia Maryland. The main headliner was Kanye West. Though I'm not a big fan of Mr. West I stayed to see his performance mainly because I wanted to see Matisayu who was to perform after him. As he began performing, I wasn't surprised to find out how extremly boring and ego driven his show was. Yet nothing prepared me for what happened next. While performing his hit Goldigga, Kanye stopped and said
"Now okay white people, this will be the only chance you get to say Nigga" and proceeded to lead the audience, which was predominately white, to yell " Nigga." And they did. No words can describe the range of emotion or looks on faces of myself or the people I was sitting with. I went through my mind trying to figure out what he was thinking. I began to think it wasn't real. Than I thought maybe he's doing some kind of reverse psychology but quickly ruled that out. And still today I don't know what to say. I'm writing this in hopes to gain some clarity on the matter. I feel like I need to do somethng but I don't know what. If you know let me know. I feel like everyone should know but what to do after that, I don't know. Or am I taking this way out of proportion because artists say stupid things all the time blah blah. All i know is I'm still angry and I am glad I never purchased "this artist's" music or supported him any fashion prior to this incident.

Mouthpiece was cool. We had Kevin Brown come through, Ebony Jackson who will be doing some serious singing at the can a sista rock a mic festival on June 17th at The R N B Coffee. A Supa Dupa Fish Fry will be going down at that place on that evening. Got to be there yall for that one. A couple more good folks came through. And myself in the mix flipping my songs over some crazy crunk beat. See me at Can A Sista Rock A Mic? on Friday, June 16th with an all girl band. Damn, Kimani you trying to kill somebody with all this talent, but it's needed boo. Thanks to Kimani, Brandon, Sy and Curt for a great time last night. See yall the third week of June for the next MouthPiece. Weusi, I'm going to put you on the mic.

Quotes: I believe in a religion that believes in freedom. Any time I have to accept a religion that won't let me fight a battle for my people, I say
to hell with that religion.
It is not a case of our people . . . wanting either separation or integration. The use of these words actually clouds the real picture.
The 22 million Afro-Americans don't seek either separation or
integration. They seek recognition and respect as human beings.

Greetings Ladies,
The ladies of International Capoeira Angola Foundation Baltimore would like to bring to you the beautiful African Brazilian martial art, Capoeira Angola.
Capoeira Angola has its roots in the Bantu tradition and was used by the enslaved Africans of Brazil as a form of revolution. In keeping with African was Strategies, Capoeiristas masked the art's effectiveness from the plantation overseers. Then and today, to uniformed onlookers, the art appeared to be harmless demonstration of dance, acrobatics, play and music.
Come out and learn to play an instrument, sing in Portuguese, and perform the movements of Capoeira. Experience a beautiful part of African Brazilian culture.
We will be offering a 6 week session of introductory classes for women. This class is to introduce you to the movement, music and energy of Capoeira Angola.
Fridays @ 6:30pm - 8:00pm
May 12th - June 23rd (There will be no class May 26th due to the holiday weekend)
St. John's Episcopal Church
3009 Greenmount Avenue
Greenmount Avenue and 30th Street
Payment Plans
$72 for the 6 week session
$36 down payment and $12 per week for the remaining 3 weeks
Attire: Sweatpants or comfortable pants, t-shirt, and sneakers
For questions and additional information please contact Kendra @ 443-803-3313. Please forward this email to all who may be interested or I may have misssed.
Join us in empowering ourselves and each other through culture and movement.

If young Black Women in Africa have children at 15,16,17 ,etc., etc., on a regular basis and don't have any maturity issues when raising their children and it is not frowned upon by the majority in societies in
Africa and this is a practice that has been in place for centuries, can we really blame this one on the Whiteman? Just playing the role of an @$$hole. won.
